Just finished watching Clannad. I just loved it, it had a beautiful story, certainly enjoyed it.
However, I don't see what was so sad about it. There were a few moments that made my eyes water, but I'm not seeing how it's meant to be one of the saddest anime out there.

Only one Kanon reference off the top of my head. In After Story, everyone is preparing to fight that gang thing, and Nagisa gives everybody some of Sanae's bread topped with Akiko's jam. And then everybody gets ill, and someone, I think Tomoya, fights the gang alone.
