What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Wii U? To me, it seems like a waste of money and time. It doesn't look like any improvements were made besides the HD and the extra controller, which seems like a hassle. Most of the games I play aren't multiplayer, so I don't see the use in the extra controller.

I don't really see how the Wii has been a success as it is anyway. It seems pointless making a console where you have to move around, the whole point of video games to to relax yourself.

When I've played the Wii, it really requires very little movement. You don't even have to stand up, contrary to popular belief. Most of the games that require movement are casual games. In reality, all you really do is point the Wiimote and shake it sometimes, and use it for precise movement with the motion plus(in Skyward Sword, notably) and then all you do is aim your pointing more precisely.

I think the Wii was pointed more towards little children, and I doubt they would care there's a more powerful version. Most probably still don't know there's a new version out soon anyway.

From Wikipedia:

"Is expected to be released during the fourth quarter of 2012 in North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan"

It's expected to release this Autumn. And I really wish Nintendo could help end the stereotype "Nintendo games/consoles are for little kids". They could come out with more mature games, but I think just plain murder games would be taking it too far. At least allowing T rated games would be nice, and at least curb the stereotype a bit.

N64 had many 'mature' games, I think Nintendo would profit from doing that again.

And perhaps Nintendo is making a little more mature games, and just not releasing them outside of Japan. I've heard of the Fire Emblem series, and from the Wikipedia page, it sounds a lot darker than most of the games Nintendo releases world-wide.

Nintendo did release a mature game outside of Japan, 'Madworld' I think, and everyone criticised them since Nintendo is meant to be 'family-friendly', so I doubt that they will release many mature games.
